Then and Now- Powder Room

Happy Monday!  Hope your weekend was fabulous.  Nate and I have been hanging in Maui since last Wednesday so our weekend was, of course, amazing.  How could it not be?  It's Maui.

Beings not much new is happening on the home front, let's continue our Then and Now series.  (Check out our living room, kitchen and master bathroom!)

You may remember that our powder room looks like this.  You also may not remember this because we haven't touched this room since 2011.  Crazy.

Before + After Powder room reveal. Love the stencil!

It all started in 2008 looking like this.  Such a cute little room.  It's also funny for me to look at this and realize the garage is right on the other side.  So weird.

Old photos of this room are lacking. I guess we weren't that into our powder room.  It's actually one of my favorites in our house now.  Sorry for the lack of baby photos little powder room.  The only other one I could find was this one.  The powder room is right across from the bottom of the stairs.

The powder room obviously went through the whole dry wall thing.  We first painted this room Sherwin Williams Svelte Sage.  It's the same color that we used in our kitchen

I eventually got bored with this room.  It needed life.  So I painted it white.  Totally not boring, right?

The white walls were only to prepare for big changes.  We added wall molding and stenciled the upper part of the walls.  Oh, stenciling.  Part of me wants to paint over this.  Part of me still remembers the amount of time it too me to stencil these walls.  This is why I'm not allowed to wallpaper anything.  Too indecisive.

I used the Royal Design Studio Nova trellis stencil.  I like the bold black and white pattern.  Why am I pondering repainting then?  My Type A personality sees EVERY SINGLE imperfection.

What are our plans for this room?  Try not to paint over the stencil.  Find a larger mirror.  Maybe DIY a mirror?  Maybe a new light?  Definitely add crown molding.  Fix that light switch.  (It looks better than above now but still could use some more work.)

Who thinks I'm crazy for wanting to paint?  Have you stenciled before?  Are you allowed to wallpaper?
